Farm Status

June 2, 2017

Things change around here  on a weekly basis. We are constantly working on the house or land. Becoming a farm from 22 acres of woods, is a pretty big job! We go from the inside, to the outside, and back again, but it is so worth it. And, the constant work put in, is an immediate rewarding feeling.
Over the Summer, we have been very busy. We have finished the details in the kitchen by adding subway tile and my hubby brought to life my hood design of which I am so in love with! We finished the upstairs whoo hoo... We now have painted walls, installed doors and flooring up there and I am in the process now of getting it all decorated (my favorite)! We have finished some of the outdoor list as well, including flower beds, stumped and graded 5 acres to make a future pasture, decorated the wrap around front porch, and built a pergola onto the back of the house. The list goes on of needs and wants of course.... I'm sure it will take years to check everything off and then it will be time to start again!!

When it all started

This is the start of our shop/barn... We dug out the footers. And by dug I mean by shoveling after the bobcat for hours. Then Brenton and our friends and dad's poured footings and set the poles....

In one weeks time we have dug and poured footings for the house, and now the foundation is being finished up!! When I say we I mean WE!! My husband, & I, & our family and friends have already put sweat, blood, and tears into this house. Ok maybe I'm the only one putting in the tears, but we sure are getting excited about what comes next!
With a mixture of Us, Parents and Friends, we got the ceiling and trusses up and the roof is on!! We are hoping to have concrete done this week so we can have a floor. But, we seriously are just over joyed by progress!
The Foundation is complete and looking fabulous, thanks to the best brick mason in town. Framing is starting this week!!
This past week the barn was mostly finished!! We still have to install the doors and get the electrical done and then it will be ready for our final inspection!!! Whooo Hooo!!!
The first floor has framing done and this week we are hoping to complete the second floor! Its so fun to see the progress each day and what I once drew out on printer paper be standing in front of me!!
At this point the trusses and roof are going on and its at the finshing stages of framing.. YAY!!

We have all of the framing done! We are now putting on the siding, and rock. On the interior we are getting rough-ins and then onto insulation.
We are finally getting to some very exciting parts for me!!! Brenton, his dad, and I have been working our booties off on the interior. The past 2 weeks we have installed all of the ship lap and gotten the trim around all of the windows... That's way more work than it sounds. So many details go into all of the pretty work! Long days and late nights, but it's coming together and looking beautiful

And we are done. Towards the end we got so busy doing the work on the house, not getting into bed until 12, 1, 2, or even 4 in the morning, I wasn't able to do the documenting like I wanted to. But, We have now moved into the house and gotten settled in. Nearing the end we called in the troops. Our closest family and friends were so there for us in our time of desperation. We moved into the house with our list of todo's and a day at a time they are getting checked off the list.
